Abstract

The author points to the universality of the musical art in all cults. Then, that a special place the choral music has in the Orthodox Church. He quotes especially the composers of the Serbian Orthodox tradition.

The best Educator being our Lord Jesus, and since He took part in the Old Testament liturgy with its chant, He legitimized the use of the chant in the New Testament Church as well. Its pedagogical value has never been contested.

The experience the author had in a crowded Russian church, where all the faithful chanted the Creed, is the best confirmation of the educative value of the Church's music.
