Marcellus of Ancyra: A Letter to Pope Julius and Fragments 42, 48 and 113 from Contra Asterium

pages: 9-18

Abstract

Marcellus of Ancyra († c. 374) wrote many works defending his Orthodoxy, including a letter to Pope Julius († 352) and a work directed against the Asterius of Cappadocia († c. 341), which is preserved only in a few fragments. In the present article, we will analyze a couple of interesting passages from Markel’s writings, which are important sources for Christology of the 4th and 5th century.
