The film Cast Away from 2000, directed by Robert Lee Zemeckis and with Tom Hanks in the leading role, is interesting to us regarding its interpretation of the human need for the Other, that is – a human as а creature of community from the Orthodox point of view, and in that regard – human basic need for communication, as well as his relation towards the time in the conditions of total isolation, in the light of the Christian understanding of a human as created, but also godlike being, determined by time and space, but ment for eternity.
